Antique Transsylvanian chest

Rare antique chest from the Carpathian Bassin, in very good condition. These types of chests were modelled after Old Greek exemplars, and a symbol of true craftmanship. The making-process was complicated and time-consuming. Among others, it involved burning & handsplitting beechwood. Often given as a wedding-present, these "chest of hope" mostly unveil some ingenious carvework!
